My journey with fitness started 13 years ago when my twin boys were born - I joined a local bootcamp in an attempt to back in shape.
Through the bootcamps I've taken part in mud race runs, marathon training , bike rides, long boat racing, military battle TAB test, triathlons and climbed Snowdon no less than 3 times!
Along side this i trained in an Mixed Martial Arts gym specialising in boxing and Muay Thai . More recently I've found a new passion for weight lifting and become a qualified level 2 gym/ fitness instructor.
When coaching , I really get a kick out of seeing people enjoy the sessions and I try to challenge them with games which Incorporate strength, cardio and mobility training using everything I've learnt through all the different experiences I've had.
From my point of view its really important to keep healthy and fit for both short term and long term benefits- i have to be strong and fit to do the things i enjoy now and my family are very active and i want be able to keep up with them for as long as i can!!
For my own fitness i currently weight/ strength train , enjoy yoga and attend sessions with the bootcamp gang when I'm not coaching them. Bootcamp is such a good way to keep all round fitness, it covers all the disciplines .
Training outside has proven benefits such supporting your immune system and mental wellbeing , not to mention being with a great group of like - minded people who encourage and laugh with you is a sure fire way to keep you coming back . I can tell you this as a long term "camper" .
I have been running bootcamps & 1-2-1 coaching sessions since leaving the Army in 2014 after 6 years service.
Over the years I have dabbled in most sports you can think of - these days my own training consists of functional movement, weight training, HIIT, light running and a big passion for yoga.
This all supports my love for climbing mountains - when I'm not running the business, this is where you'll find me.
A lifetime passion for fitness, health, nature & anything outdoors has led me naturally on to the path of helping others overcome their own physical & mental barriers in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle through bootcamps & coaching.
After leaving the military I went straight into running bootcamps, gaining experience elsewhere, before building The Body-Fit Bootcamp in 2018.
I am very dedicated in ensuring The Body-Fit Bootcamp is a very positive atmosphere to train in and is different from any other fitness class in
Bishop's Stortford.
The Body-Fit Bootcamp's mission is to always seek out & draw the best from every individual that attends our classes and have a great laugh whilst we do it - this is why we have members that have been working with us every day for over 9+ years.
I feel a lot of people benefit from our sessions, our community and our outlook because we all share a love for the outdoors and we want to live a healthy, active, balanced lifestyle.
'Work hard, play hard.'
Come and try something new with such an amazing bunch - I guarantee you'll have great workout!
After spending some time in the military, I had a career in Law Enforcement where I worked in teams and I had to keep in good physical shape.
During this time, I competed in triathlon competitions, cross country running championships, inter-service events and boxed competitively.
I specialised in an area that required me to take fitness to new levels, pushing myself so I could carry out hard physical tasks whilst still being able to think and maintain awareness despite my exhaustion.
This training and experience formed a large part of my current mindset, with an ability to push through my own barriers during endurance events.
I'm now that little bit older but still maintain my training and adjust it to suit my busy family and work life, as is the same for a lot of people.
I still do endurance events and have completed 5 marathons, one of them being at the end of an IronMan Triathlon! I have completed OMM's (Original Mountain Marathons) and even walked 1 mile an hour every hour for 24hrs just to see what it was like!
I like to keep my training varied and try not to repeat the same thing over and over. I find this keeps me interested in training and gives me an overall sense of fitness and wellbeing, without getting bored.
My bootcamp sessions are HIIT based, keeping them basic and of a military theme! I love a log run, hill work and stamina workouts! The more mud and rain the better!
Im a great believer in a resilient mindset and know that the bootcampers can always push themselves harder.
Bootcamps are great because
They are varied, intense and rewarding. The sessions differ each time so the body is constantly surprised with the exercises.
